Forty years ago, the Claretian priest Gabriel Antonio Mej\u00eda became concerned about the situations of marginalization present in Colombian society, especially drug addiction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After extensive study and learning about different experiences in Colombia and around the world, together with his Claretian brothers Jos\u00e9 Fernando Tob\u00f3n and Luis Fernando Vargas, he established contact with Hogares Crea in the Dominican Republic, requesting training for a group of adults in their therapeutic method, which would later be implemented in the newly created Hogares Claret Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1996, Hogares Claret has been one of the organizations supported by Fraternidad Medell\u00edn through the provision of resources used to hire teachers who offer young people in its residential programs courses in different trades such as hairdressing, tailoring, computer skills, and music. The goal is to strengthen their life skills, foster new ways of relating to others, and encourage the constructive and creative use of free time as they prepare for life after leaving the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
