With that conviction, the Medellín Zero Hunger Alliance was born—an initiative that brought together the Alcaldía de Medellín, the Fundación Fraternidad Medellín, EatCloud, Ábaco, and the Corporación Presentes to tackle an urgent challenge: ensuring that no family in Medellín has to face the uncertainty of not knowing whether they will have food to eat.

At the heart of this alliance is EatCloud, a technology platform that connects surplus food with those who need it most—proving that innovation can also be a profound act of humanity. Through its food rescue line, an application was implemented that linked nearly 1,000 locations—including food companies, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and shops—with food banks and social organizations serving vulnerable populations.

But the initiative went even further. The alliance launched a solidarity line that invited business leaders, foundations, and citizens to donate resources to expand the impact. These contributions made it possible to distribute vouchers that allowed families to redeem food packages, prioritizing those most in need through a verification process led by the District Administration and authorized organizations.

EatCloud’s impact goes beyond borders.

After helping redistribute food equivalent to more than 115 million meals—benefiting vulnerable communities and preventing the emission of over 120 million kilograms of CO₂—Jorge Correa, founder and CEO, shaped by Medellín’s social innovation ecosystem, has been selected as one of 14 global leaders to participate in the prestigious Bellagio Residency of the Rockefeller Foundation for the January–February 2026 cohort. This recognition is not an isolated achievement, but the result of a path of collaboration in which we have collectively shown that technology, cross-sector collaboration, and generosity can deliver real solutions to the most pressing public challenges. Jorge’s participation in this influential global thought hub opens an extraordinary opportunity to project the Medellín Zero Hunger Alliance model to the world, and fills us with pride to know that this achievement also reflects the strength of the alliances we build to transform lives.

We celebrate this major achievement that places the well-being of Medellín and its citizens on the global stage, and reminds us that fighting hunger is a shared responsibility.
