For Fraternidad Medellín, education is the fundamental pillar for the progress and advancement of individuals and society. Based on this belief, the Higher Education Scholarship Program, created seven years ago, has become one of our greatest sources of pride.

An example of this impact is Catherine Muñoz, who was a student at the Institución Educativa Madre María Mazzarello. Upon completing high school, and thanks to information provided by the school principal, she learned about Fraternidad’s scholarship program. Motivated by her desire to continue her studies, Catherine decided to apply and, shortly after, received the news that she had been selected as a beneficiary of one of our scholarships.

With the support of the scholarship, Catherine studied Prehospital Care at Adventist University. Despite the challenges she faced—such as the high academic demands of her program and the need to balance family and work responsibilities—she never gave up. She consistently sought support from Fraternidad and, with patience and determination, she graduated during the height of the pandemic.

Today, Catherine works as a paramedic at Bomberos Medellín, responding to emergencies that require ambulance services. When asked what Fraternidad means to her, she answers without hesitation that it was her salvation. Thanks to the Foundation, she is now the one saving lives.

A month ago, Catherine achieved another important milestone by graduating as a Technical Firefighter, and her thirst for knowledge continues. The Higher Education Scholarship Program not only opened the door to her career but also taught her that dreams can come true with courage, determination, and, above all, the support of helping hands willing to assist along the way.
