For Fraternidad Medellín, the classroom is not the only place where knowledge can be gained. We learn when we connect with other worlds, when we allow ourselves to discover new spaces that nourish the soul and the spirit.
That is why it fills us with joy to share that, during 2024, as a gift from Fraternidad, 1,246 children and young people from the Southwest and Eastern regions of Antioquia visited Parque Explora to enjoy educational field trips that allowed them to experience fascinating learning opportunities.
For many, it was their first time visiting the city. From their rural communities, teachers and students woke up before dawn filled with excitement. Some could not sleep the night before, imagining what that place they had heard so much about would be like. On the buses taking them there, the only thing that could be heard was excitement: they had been told about interactive rooms where they would discover the secrets of science, encounter dinosaurs, and learn about biodiversity, chemistry, and astronomy. Their expectations fell short—what they found upon arriving at Parque Explora exceeded everything they had imagined, and the experience each of them lived transformed their lives and the way they see the world.
These educational field trips were created for different public schools where Fraternidad Medellín is present through some of its programs.
In every corner of Parque Explora, the young people explored topics that helped them imagine their future while being amazed by science, technology, and the arts. In addition, this experience allowed them to connect with life in the city—a vibrant environment full of contrasts that, for many, was completely new.
Each of these experiences was filled with learning, but also with moments of togetherness. Wonderful encounters that enrich the learning journey of both students and teachers. Experiences that strengthen the power of Fraternidad.
