There are encounters that not only add up, but multiply. Fifteen years ago, Fundación Fraternidad Medellín and Fundación Berta Martínez decided to join paths to strengthen a common purpose: transforming people’s lives and the territories they inhabit through the construction and improvement of infrastructure for development—mainly educational facilities and rural housing.
Since then, this alliance has been much more than an agreement. It has been a deep commitment to people, to their environment, and to their dreams. It has been living proof that when hearts and resources are placed at the service of communities, realities change, territories flourish, and people find reasons to believe in a better tomorrow.
Fifteen years after coming together, today we celebrate a story written with hundreds of hands: those of the 238 families from the Miraflores neighborhood that we built together in the township of Bolombolo in Venecia; those of the 278 families in Salgar who, after tragedy, found in their homes a new opportunity for dignity and life; those of the children, youth, and teachers who have benefited from 117 schools rebuilt and improved; and those of the communities who now enjoy 4 educational parks and 5 sports facilities.
This alliance is, above all, an expression of trust. Trust in communities and in their ability to overcome challenges. Trust in the transformative power of education, social investment, and well-executed work. Trust that every peso invested with purpose turns into abundant fruits for many more.
Thank you, Fundación Berta Martínez, for walking alongside us, for the expertise and care in your work, which has included a strong social strategy to ensure that these infrastructures become part of people’s hearts, cared for and embraced as their own.
May these 15 years be only the prologue of many more decades of joint work, of stories that move us, and of communities that thrive. Because together, we always go further.
