Evaluating to Grow Together

Growing together also means pausing. Looking carefully. Listening respectfully. Recognizing what has flourished… and honestly asking ourselves how we can do even better.

At Fraternidad Medellín, we believe in organizations that work every day to respond to the most urgent needs of our society. Organizations that sustain hope within communities, accompany lives, and transform realities — often quietly. That is why one of our core lines of work is supporting them through financial resources and technical guidance, helping strengthen their capacity to act and expand the reach of their impact.

But supporting also means caring. And caring means evaluating.

Each year, through a rigorous and transparent process, we revisit the journey we have taken alongside each organization. We review their trajectory, listen to their lessons learned, analyze the social impact of their actions, and assess their administrative and financial management. Not as a form of judgment, but as an opportunity to grow together, recognize progress, and open new possibilities.

This process, led annually by our Donations Committee, allows us to make responsible decisions regarding the continuity of support and the allocation of resources. This year, 95 organizations that had already been supported by Fraternidad were approved during the reevaluation process, and 4 new organizations joined.

When an organization is approved, it receives funding either for a specific purpose or for unrestricted use, trusting in its judgment and its ability to decide how best to strengthen its operations, optimize its management, diversify its income sources, and, above all, expand its impact sustainably over time.

Because we believe in a way of investing that goes beyond funding alone: an investment built on trust, strengthening, and long-term commitment. An investment that understands that behind every organization there are dedicated teams, life stories, and entire communities that depend on their work.

This year, 103 organizations across Antioquia are part of this shared journey, working in areas such as health, education, culture and the arts, social development, childhood, youth, nutrition, elderly care, and housing. Each one, from its own place, contributing to the construction of a more equitable, dignified, and humane Antioquia.

Evaluating does not mean stopping the journey. It means making it more intentional.
It means recognizing that when we walk together, we also learn together. And within that shared learning, we continue finding new ways to create transformation.
