From Jardín, Antioquia, Sebastián Correa Gallego began forging a path driven by curiosity, a passion for science, and a desire to learn. His dedication and perseverance earned him a scholarship from the Fraternidad Medellín Scholarship Fund, which enabled him to study Biology at EAFIT University. There, he discovered in microbiology, ecology, and research new ways of understanding the world and, above all, contributing to it. 

His commitment to learning led him to participate in and lead research projects and to explore Antioquia’s extraordinary natural wealth. Over time, the journey that began in Jardín took him beyond Colombia’s borders. Once again, thanks to his perseverance, Sebastián received another scholarship from Fraternidad, which enabled him to travel to the United States for a research internship at Purdue University. There, he joined a laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences, further strengthening his knowledge and experience as a researcher. 

Sebastián’s story represents what we envision whenever we award a scholarship: that an opportunity is only the beginning. That every young person can discover their talent, broaden their horizons, and go as far as their abilities and dreams can take them.
