In response to the emergency caused by the earthquake on August 10, Fundación Fraternidad Medellín allocated COP 20 billion to support the reconstruction and recovery of educational infrastructure affected in Colombia. This initiative places children and young people at the center, helping them return as soon as possible to safe, dignified, and suitable spaces where they can continue learning.

A school is much more than its classrooms, walls, or roofs. It is a place for connection, learning, and protection—a space where relationships are built, experiences are shared, and an essential part of students’ lives unfolds. When a school is affected, the routines and sense of security of families and the entire community are disrupted as well. 

That is why restoring a school means much more than rebuilding its infrastructure. It means helping children reunite with their classmates and teachers, enabling families to regain a sense of confidence and security, and supporting communities as they gradually return to their daily lives.

At Fundación Fraternidad Medellín, we firmly believe that, especially in the most difficult times, education must continue to be a source of protection, hope, and opportunity.
