Rural Development in Southwestern Antioquia: A Commitment from Fraternidad

This support, provided through the Aurelio Llano Foundation’s model, aimed to improve the quality of life of families through associative strengthening, community participation, skills development, and knowledge transfer, creating a sustainable transformation of these territories.

Throughout the years of support, two important projects were consolidated in the municipalities of Támesis and Jericó: the OMCE and AGECOSUR associations. Significant achievements were made through the implementation of environmental, social, and educational projects led by the communities themselves. In the productive sector, we supported the creation of the “Café con Historia” coffee purchasing point for OMCE, and three natural coffee drying units were installed for AGECOSUR. Meanwhile, in the sustainability area, we developed the associative project “Café Suroeste Especial,” involving 98 producers from these organizations and others across the subregion. These achievements, along with many others reached by the communities, are a testament to the power of collaboration.

At Fraternidad Medellín, we celebrate the strengthening of rural families and reaffirm the need to build a close connection between the community, the family, and what happens in schools and in the educational process of children and young people.
