La Casa del Buen Dios: a refuge of love and hope in the heart of Medellín

Amid the uncertainties faced by those who arrive in Medellín seeking medical care, there is a place where compassion and care become a balm for the soul: La Casa del Buen Dios. Founded in 1961 by Tulia Uribe Jaramillo and Monsignor Alfonso Uribe Jaramillo, this nonprofit organization has served as a temporary home, offering safe accommodation, balanced meals, and comprehensive support to patients and their families during their stay in the city.

With two facilities located in the Prado Centro neighborhood—one for adults and another for minors—La Casa del Buen Dios provides far more than basic services. It offers an environment where every person is welcomed with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or economic situation. Its dedicated team works tirelessly to ease the emotional and physical burdens of those going through difficult times, providing not only material care but also spiritual and emotional support that strengthens the human spirit.

At the Fundación Fraternidad Medellín, we believe in the power of solidarity and mutual support. For this reason, through our Helping Those Who Help line of action, we have supported the work of La Casa del Buen Dios for the past 42 years, fully aware that by strengthening organizations committed to the well-being of the most vulnerable, we help build a more just and compassionate society.

Every story that unfolds at La Casa del Buen Dios is a testament to resilience and hope. It is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, the light of empathy and love can guide the way toward healing and inner peace. We are proud to be part of this mission and to continue supporting initiatives like this one—initiatives that transform lives and sow seeds of hope within our community.
