Major transformations do not happen in isolation. They are built through dialogue, through the willingness to listen to different voices, and through the decision to walk alongside those who, from different parts of the world, share a common purpose.
Between April 27 and 30, Fraternidad Medellín participated in IEFG Together, the annual in-person gathering of the International Education Funders Group (IEFG), a network that brings together some of the world’s most influential education funders. It was an incredibly valuable space to learn from global experiences, exchange perspectives, and connect with leaders who are redefining social investment in education today.
Above all, IEFG is a community of learning and collaboration. It is a place where foundations, philanthropic organizations, and leaders from different countries come together to share what is working, what challenges remain, and what pathways are creating new possibilities. It is a global conversation in which every experience adds value, and where shared knowledge becomes a powerful tool for accelerating change.
For Fraternidad Medellín, being part of this network means not working alone. It means gaining access to lessons already tested in other contexts, connecting with experts leading educational transformation, and strengthening partnerships that expand the reach of our impact. It also means something equally important: bringing the voice of Antioquia into this global conversation, showing that innovative and deeply human solutions are also being built from our territories.
Participating in IEFG Together reaffirmed a conviction that guides our work: the most powerful solutions emerge when we successfully connect the local with the global. When we are able to bring global learnings into our communities, while also sharing with the world what we are building here in Antioquia.
In education, every shared success can mean years gained. Every conversation can open a new possibility. Every partnership can become a gateway for more children and young people to access quality opportunities.
That is why spaces like this not only broaden our perspective, but also strengthen our ability to act. They allow us to move forward with greater clarity, avoid retracing paths already traveled, and invest in strategies that have already demonstrated their impact.
At Fraternidad Medellín, we remain convinced that transforming education is a collective effort. One that requires trust, collaboration, and a shared purpose. And that when we connect Antioquia with the world, we not only learn faster — we also multiply opportunities for those who need them most.
