ChatGPT dijo: There are dreams that begin with a single word—and in this case, with many new ones: hello, dream, opportunity. Words that can now be heard in the halls of Institución Educativa Santiago de Arma (IETISA) in Rionegro, thanks to the Next Step – Futuro Bilingüe program, an initiative that brings together the commitment of Fundación Fraternidad Medellín and Fundación Los 8 Valores to promote English learning among children and young people in eastern Antioquia.

Convinced that English is much more than a language—it is a tool that broadens horizons, breaks down barriers, and creates opportunities—both foundations are working together to strengthen the comprehensive development of public education in Antioquia. The goal is clear: to help students access better academic, professional, and personal opportunities, and to make bilingualism a bridge toward a more equitable future. 

Today, 520 IETISA students are learning English with the support of EAFIT Language Center, in a process designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and open the door to a world without borders. Next Step – Futuro Bilingüe goes beyond teaching grammar or vocabulary: it teaches students to dream bigger, to communicate with the world, and to believe that knowledge can transform lives.

This new stage of the program reaffirms a shared goal: to ensure that more and more public schools in Antioquia become bilingual, and that classrooms become the starting point for a more equitable and global education.
