Behind every discus throw, there is a story of effort, discipline, and dreams that fly as far as the body allows… and the heart propels. Such is the story of Mauricio Ortega Girón, an athlete born in Medellín but raised in Apartadó, who has made strength, perseverance, and love for his family and his country the driving forces of his career. Today, he continues to dream—with his feet on the ground and his eyes held high—of reaching the next Olympic Games. 

Mauricio was born not only to throw a discus far, but also to break through the barriers that stand between a dream and its fulfillment. His story is that of an athlete who has walked a challenging path, marked by early mornings of training, silent sacrifices, and unshakable determination. Today, he is one of the best discus throwers in Latin America, proudly representing Colombia on tracks around the world. 

His hard work and perseverance have proven that talent flourishes when nurtured with opportunities. With the support of partners and his commitment to his own process, he has placed himself among the best, breaking national records and raising high the names of Antioquia and Colombia. His goal is clear: to reach the Olympic Games for the fourth time and, once again, leave his mark. 

Beyond his sporting achievements, what we most admire in Mauricio is his humanity. His humility, discipline, and gratitude are as great as his strength. He is living proof that when you believe in yourself—and have someone else who believes in you too—dreams become achievable goals. 

Supporting Mauricio Ortega means believing in the transformative power of sport. It is betting on a Colombia that works hard, competes with dignity, and dreams big. It is believing in an upright human being who inspires children and young people to see in sport a life purpose through which they can go very far.
