As part of a joint effort to continue advancing the public policy “Rionegro Bilingüe”, the Fraternidad Medellín Foundation and the Los 8 Valores Foundation have partnered to provide high-quality English learning opportunities for students and teachers at the Institución Educativa Santiago de Armas, located in the municipality of Rionegro (Antioquia).
A Step Toward the Future
Through this program, operated by Universidad EAFIT, we aim to strengthen bilingual education at Institución Educativa Técnico Industrial Santiago de Arma and its two primary school branches: Juan Manuel González and Julio Sanín.
To achieve this goal, the program will work with:
- 520 primary and secondary school students through extracurricular English clubs
- 35 English teachers and subject-area teachers
The proposal includes support in the design and phased implementation of the school’s Institutional Bilingualism Plan, through:
- Teacher support, including English language training for all interested teachers, methodology and pedagogy workshops for English teachers, curriculum design guidance, and in-classroom coaching. Teachers will also participate in a local language immersion experience.
- Extracurricular English clubs for students, personalized support for 11th-grade students preparing for the Saber 11 exams, and activities to strengthen the school’s English-language learning environment.
Program Benefits
- Access to high-quality English learning opportunities
- Development of linguistic and cultural skills
- Improved academic and professional prospects
- Strengthening of the educational community in Rionegro
A Commitment to Education
This alliance reflects the strong commitment of Fraternidad Medellín and Los 8 Valores Foundations to education and community development in Rionegro. It adds to the ongoing bilingualism projects already in place at Institución Concejo El Porvenir and Institución Baltazar Salazar. Together, we are working to provide meaningful opportunities for growth and development to students and teachers across the region.
