Pedro Nel Gómez Museum: 50 Years of Art and Collective Memory

At Fraternidad Medellín Foundation, we believe that helping those who help is a way to multiply impact—it's about strengthening the hands that are already transforming lives and communities. That’s why, through our "Helping to Help" support program, we back organizations like the Pedro Nel Gómez Museum, which work every day to preserve and share the best of our culture, our history, and our identity.

The Pedro Nel Gómez Museum, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, is much more than an art venue: it is a guardian of collective memory, a space where the works of the master artist speak to us of a country built with effort, beauty, and dignity. Located in the Aranjuez neighborhood, in the very house where the artist lived and created much of his legacy, the museum is now a place open to everyone—children, youth, adults, and visitors from near and far—offering the opportunity to connect with art and discover the roots of our city and our people. It is also worth noting that under its administration are the Casa Gardeliana and the City Museum located in Pueblito Paisa.

At Fraternidad Medellín, we know that culture is transformative too—that art, in all its forms, educates, inspires, and has the power to awaken awareness and a sense of belonging. That’s why we are proud to support the Pedro Nel Gómez Museum in its mission to bring art closer to communities, to preserve its cultural heritage, and to open its doors to new generations of creators and spectators. Today, we celebrate its 50th anniversary by inviting all citizens to visit these places full of history and emotion. To walk through them, pause before its murals, and discover in each of the master's brushstrokes a message that still resonates today. Because when we help those who help—like the Pedro Nel Gómez Museum—we contribute to ensuring that memory and culture continue to light our shared path forward.
