A shared legacy of transformation and hope

In the history of the Fraternidad Medellín Foundation, there are deep and long-lasting partnerships—like the one we maintain with the ACARPÍN Foundation, an organization that, since 1935, has opened paths for children and adolescents whose lives have been marked by the violation of their rights.

Since 1983, through our program Ayudar a Ayudar (“Helping to Help”), we have accompanied ACARPÍN in its mission to restore dignity, provide protection, education, and support to those who need it most.

Guided by the vision of its founder, Father Bernardo Montoya, ACARPÍN was born in response to the call of the children who begged on the streets of Medellín. Its early efforts focused on literacy, catechesis, and training as paths toward liberation. Today, its work centers on serving children and adolescents between 7 and 18 years old, coming from Antioquia and rural areas of the country affected by conflict.

The institution provides specialized care, in a residential setting, aimed at restoring rights that have been violated—such as abandonment, mistreatment, or sexual or psychological abuse.

This partnership carries many meanings: a shared commitment to childhood and youth, focused on providing not just protection, but real opportunities for transformation. It also recognizes that human dignity is built through comprehensive care: education, health, training, and emotional support.

With the conviction that every person—starting in childhood—deserves to feel that they belong, that they matter, and that they can dream, today we wholeheartedly congratulate ACARPÍN on its 90th anniversary. Because we know that when we care for the most vulnerable, we strengthen our social fabric, build community, and plant seeds of hope in Antioquia and beyond.

From Fraternidad Medellín we say: thank you! For your legacy, your dedication, and for allowing us to walk this path together. Let us continue forward, because when we work hand in hand, we can change the world.
